NSW presentations about National Registration for Occupational Therapists

19 Jan 2012

Information sessions announced for NSW about National Registration for occupational therapists.

From 1 July 2012 the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS) will be in place for the profession of occupational therapy.

What does this mean?

Anyone working under the title of occupational therapist (OT) must be registered from 1 July 2012. To be entitled to practise as an OT in any state or territory in Australia from 1 July 2012 you must be registered with the OT Board of Australia (the National Board) via AHPRA.

What do you need to do?

To learn more about the National Scheme and to ask questions, the following presentations have been scheduled in February to visit metro and regional sites in NSW. A schedule for VIC will soon be available.

The currently unregistered jurisdictions of ACT, NSW, TAS and VIC are the initial priorities.

Practitioners who are not currently registered with a state or territory OT board are encouraged to apply for registration by 30 March 2012. Application forms will be available from February via the National Board’s website www.occupationaltherapyboard.gov.au. An application fee and a registration fee will apply. Practitioners who are currently registered (i.e. in SA, WA, NT, QLD) will automatically transition into the scheme.

All Welcome

The information on the National Scheme will be provided by the National Board and AHPRA.

All OT practitioners, colleagues, managers etc are most welcome. To assist with venue arrangements please RSVP to a contact in your region, as listed in the attached schedule.
